Default yellow fogs: HID vs. Halogen

Hi, hopefully you guys could give me some input on this.

for the longest time, i've wanted to match my fogs to the HID lowbeams, and i've done lots of reading on CL, and decided the best way is to get a HID kit for the fogs to get as close of a match as possible.

But recently the idea of yellow fogs is growing on me, and i think i want to go with that now. Since i'm not really concerned about 'matching' the lows anymore, i wonder if it's still worthwhile to convert the fogs to HID. I know HID will be brighter, but aside from that, what would be other benefits compared to just changing to a yellow halogen bulbs, which would cost much less?

I like the crisp yellow color of the 3000K HID. Do the 2500K/3000K yellow halogen produce the same sort of nice yellow color without any amber?

I'm considering the following two, and leaning towards the luminics. For those who have these, do they produce a nice crisp yellow without amber? And are they both good brands? Thanks. any help is appreciated!

Luminics

go with 2500k, 3000kHIDs look pale yellow. i've seen some people having to have to resort to using yellow vinyls to get a nicer yellow.

my luminics 2500k have the beautiful deep yellow. also it's much cheaper since you asked(~25 bucks compared to 50 at the cheapest). less work too. just remove old bulb and plug in. with HIds you need to remove the bumper so you can mount the ballast it in a good place(more work if you're using a harness).

i don't see the point to HID fogs, it's pointed at the ground. the ground will be brighter. it won't help you as much as your lowbeam HIDs.

+1 for HID.

Had some pricey sylvania bulbs in my IS3 fogs, didn't even last a year. Threw in a 3k DDM HID kit and an ebay relay, couldn't be happier. Brightness just doesn't compare.

Ooorrr, they're trying to defend their rationale for buying overpriced stuff.

I'd say try the halogens, use them.. and if you aren't happy, get HID's.

Let me know what you think cuz I've been thinking about what you're thinking about. HID in a reflector is just full of glare anyway.

Halogens go for half the price of HID kits, so why would you not get it in the first place? FYI our vendor is selling an awesome kit for $60shipped!

thanks for the pics. at first i was still leaning towards halogen because it's easier to install, but DixonPai's pics are def giving me second thoughts. i was gonna go with Luminics Krypton (supposedly 30% more yellow compared to normal Luminics), but if the type of yellow stays the same as in the pic, then i think i prefer the HID yellow.

Does anyone have a pic of the 3000K from HIDExtra? Or do all 3000K HID pretty much look the same? Also, does anyone have pic of the 2500K Luminics Krypton? Thanks!

DixonPai, what brand is your 3000K HID? and btw, is your lowbeam 6000K or 8000K? Thanks.
edit: just saw your sig that you have 6000K lows. Thats the one in your pics, right?
