Default Light output vs. voltage

I have a question that maybe some of the bright folks on this site can answer. As I understand it my 2008 ES350 puts out 1/2 voltage (6V) on the DRL's during normal day time driving and switches to full 12V when the hi-beams are activated. As with other posters I would like to get the "white" light color in the DRL's. I also understand that the "white " light is at a color temp. of around 4000. So here is my question: If you get a bulb that runs at 8000 in 12V's does it run at 4000 at 6V's. If this is the case would you now have the "white" light at the DRL. Thanks.

No matter what temp of bulb you use, it will still be yellow. The temp is calculated when it's on full power. I myself swapped out and put in 6000ks. Though it's a teeny tad whiter it's still yellow. The only way to acheive white DRL is by using LEDs but you lose your high beams. If you want to read more here's a thread in the 2IS section https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...ow+drl&page=10

DRL

When high beam is on it's white

white itself is around 550k. 4000k will be yellow/white.

Color temperature has no real correlation between voltage. If your have a reduction in power, you're going to change the tint ever so slightly. Halving the voltage does not mean having the color temperature.

I think someone tried using actual blue bulbs that looked pretty white at half voltage.
