I have cracked OEM HID headlights and I want to replace them with Sport Design headlights but can not afford the ones with HID. I was wondering if I put aftermarket HIDs, would I lose my autoleveling option. If so, would there be a way to hook up the autoleveling motors to the new headlights???
It is for the GS and I cracked the headlight housing and wanted to replace them with non HID headlights with aftermarket HIDs and wondered if I can hook up my autoleveling option from my old headlights.
He's wondering if he can transfer the leveling motors to the non-HID housing and make it work. I think the question is do non-HID housings have the mounting bracket or space for the motors?
I haven't really looked at non-HID housings and haven't opened up my stock HID housings yet, but if the non-HID housing has the mounting points for the motor, I don't see why you couldn't transfer the motors and reflector bowls from your HID's into a non-HID light; as long as the adjustment pins line up as well and I'd assume they would. I'm assuming the non-HID bowls don't have the slot or pin to attach to the leveling motor so you'd have to swap the HID bowls as well. That's better anyway if you're going to that much trouble, that way you could still use your current HID bulbs and have a better beam pattern than a kit in halogen reflectors.
You could also do a retrofit since you're tearing everything apart anyway.
