Default Why is the shield crooked?

Alright, so I've been dying to know, and I can't find anything by searching... Why do OEM projectors have that slant in the middle of the shield? I could see it maybe being for illuminating the sides of the road better, but that would only make sense if they were mirror image from each other. Instead, since they're the same, you get that slant in your cutoff. Is there a good reason for this? Please enlighten me!

Thanks,
~Joe

So it does not blind oncoming traffic.

It is lower on the left for USDM projectors, and flipped for JDM/DTM projectors.
