I know alot of people have the JDM sideview mirrors but I've never seen any 06-08' with the USDM mirrors. IMO the USDM mirrors look nicer. Would the wiring be the same as the JDM and would it be a direct swap (hardware wise)?

 

it should be theoretically.... but have to check it out any pics of it??? the USDM IMO looks a little small so yeah

 

i think you would need a whole new mirror assembly, instead of the cover. I believe the 09's mirror are smaller.

 

i was inquiring about it at a local lexus parts department and they quoted me close to $1300 for it, im not sure if this is true or not but he said it wouldnt work on the 06-08 models? but anything's possible right? im sure it will work, he was a little hesitant telling me that if i buy it and if doesnt work all sales will be final. just gotta wait and see if someone does it and posts a DIY post.

 

That would be bad because there are a lot of blind spots already.

 

you will need the whole mirror (whats under the covers NOT just the covers) assembly to make it work. The 09 *covers only* wont fit, trust me.

 

The 09 mirrors are hideous. Stick with 06-08 and buy the LED covers.

 

No way are the 09 mirrors hideous! IMO, the 06-08 mirrors look gargantuan like the ones on SUV's and trucks. 09 mirrors are about the same in width, but smaller height wise. I will take pics later to compare the two mirrors.

Installing the 09 mirrors would not be too hard to install, just like the LED covers, you just gotta wire the signal wire to it.

 

for sure the install would be EASY... its the xpense of getting the ENTIRE mirror thats the $hard$ part...

 

I don't like turn signal mirrors on most cars, and I prefer the dumbo no-signal mirrors on the IS to the 09s. They're not _as_ bad as some turn signal mirrors, but still not great.


Given how poor rear visibility is on the 2IS larger mirrors are better anyway :P
