Default Hid Exploded

Ok I have never heard of this, and even on searching google couldn't really find anything about it. Today I noticed one of my lights weren't working. So I decided to check the ballast and see if it was dead. There was no humming so I was kinda bummed out. I then decided for the heck of it to check the bulb. I pulled it out and about halfway it was GONE as seen in this poorly taken picture. Anyone have any clues as to why it did that? I tried connecting it again and it started making this CLICK CLICK CLICK sound really fast so i turned it off right away. Any help would be appreciated.

HOLY COW!!

Hahahaha - I've NEVER seen a bulb busted that bad and I've REALLY messed up my fair share just to see what would happen. Touching it with my greasy hands then flipping it on, spray painting them then running them, coloring them with a sharpie marker on it and running it, etc...

How old are the bulbs? What brand kit? I'd inquire about getting it covered under warranty. Do you have a leak in your headlight? Perhaps they were running and you came across some water that made its way into the headlight housing?

Well i checked and my headlights have been pretty dry, despite all the rain we've had. One of the cables was in a small amount of water but it wasn't anywhere near the contacts. I am completely perplexed as to why it blew up . As for age, i'm not sure, I borrowed these bulbs from my friend.

Heh at least someone noticed:

But I digress, if anyone has any info on the cause, as to possible future avoidance of another dilemma like this, I would appreciate it .

If you borrowed it from a friend, how long have the bulbs been in. If you touched the bulb with your fingers when you put them in then the oil from your fingers might have caused excess heat to build up and caused the bulb to burst.
Just my $.02

Well I haven't asked him how long he had them. Though they have been unmoved since i put them in quite a few months back. Perhaps just their time.....
