Default headlight help!

Hi, I have a 06 IS250 and I was one of the unfortunate ones to get it without the OEM HID. I was wondering if I can just get a OEM HID headlight and swap my halogen headlight with it. I know that the AFS won't work, but it will turn on and everything right?

NO NO.....never do that.....you have to get a whole HID Kit (complete with wiring, ballasts, and of course the HID Bulbs)........you can never put in a HID bulb into a standard halogen housing and vice versa....if you're looking for this kit......you have to get a H11 HID Conversion Kit that's the bulb size for the halgen housing so you need that kit

yes you can do that, use the oem headlight and oem hid setup. im sure you will have to cut some wires but the result will be worth it. there are members that use an aftermarket hid kit but i cant talk about the quality or experiences.

So does your auto-leveling work? I already know that the AFS don't work right?

I want to say the halogen and xenon OEM harnesses are compatible but its alot of work compared to installing a conversion kit.

oh no, I already went through the HID kit way. I don't like the cut off and lightning is horrible compared to OEM HID. All I see are hot spots with the kit. After looking at HIDplanet.com I don't think i'll go back to HID kits.

Why dont you get a retro with a TSX projector? Will be cheaper and you can mod it anyway you want

The TSX retro will definatly give you better output then the IS projectors, but the hassle and effort won't be worth it. If the car comes w/ the optional xenon system, it's always better to convert the whole unit. The IS projectors arn't half bad. However on the 1IS's case, the reflectors aren't that great so i retroed the LS430 projectors in there, and i must say it's like night and day. But comparsions between the TSX and the 2IS isn't worth the extra time.

Yup, the TSX projector is the way to go and it is actually pretty easy compated to the S2K.

Here are some pictures of my Non-HID car with a TSX retro

Thank you for everybody's help and I decided to go with the retrofit. But I am using the OEM IS250/350 HID projectors. The reason why is because of our headlight design. I can only use the 2IS projectors because the bulbs are inserted through the side rather than behind the projector. Right now I have completed the retrofit and I also swapped out the stock fresnel lens for the super clear S2K lens for the sharp cutoff. The output is incredible compared to just using the HID kit on the halogen headlights. When I get the chance I will post some pics.

Here are the pictures, sorry it took so long. I kind of forgot, but here they are. I probably need better pics but I guess these will do for now.

By the way this is my first ever retrofit, I was kind of nervous at first, but reading up at hidplanet.com really helped me out. So what do you guys think? I would've liked to use other projectors but due to the design of my headlights I had to use the OEM projectors.

Here's how the design of my headlight looks like. Notice that the bulbs are inserted through the side of the projectors.

So it really sucks for me, I would've gone Tsx or S2000
