I have read a few threads and still have some basic newbie HID questions.
I have a PNP kit now but im getting ready to do a retro.
What is a color mod and how is it done?
Can you use a non bi-xenon bulb in a bi-xenon lamp assy ?
If you remove the shield, is there still a sharp cutoff or is the shield what gives the cutoff?

Thx guys
The color mod is when you put washers (on the screws between the front half and back half of the projectors assembly I think) to add more color to the output. If you're going to use a projector from another car they only accept D2S bulbs for both bi-xenon and non bi-xenon projectors. If you remove the cutoff shield you will shoot light everywhere, it's there to block any excess light.
Excellent thank you. So esentially the d2s bulb is a constant and the part that changes an assy to bi-xenon is the motorized deflector that allows hi and low beams in the same houseing right ?

Yea it's just a motor that moves the shield to allow more light thus creating the appearance of a highbeam. The aftermarket HID kits use a second bulb to achieve hi/lo beam HID.
