Default HID reccomendations?

I've had it, no more HID look alike bulbs for me. One of my super plazma bulbs went out after only 45 days. 60$ for 45 days is a rip off! My last ones lasted for 8 months too, anyways...

There are several real HID kits available, which one do you guys reccomend? I know of Philips, Vision, one on ebay (the box says new generation K2), and Hiper Industries. I've heard that the Philips HID kit is white with a little hue of blue. Would the color change by changing the HID bulbs? I've read that the color of the HID is burned into the bulb when manufactured. Not sure if this is true.

Thanks!

Well, I have the Phillips HID kit. I got it about a year ago. When I turn them on, they warm up and change colors. They go from purple, blue, green, then a bright bright white. They are worth the money. Anyways, the color is changed by the ballast (I'm about 70% sure on this). I tried to change my color of my HIDs to more of a purplish color (like the BMW) but they said that i would be better off buying a whole new kit. I basically said "f-that" and stuck with my Phillips. I'm happy with them tho.

Hey dude...

I got the purple K2 HID's not too long ago. I paid $500, but there was a group buy for $450...I don't know if that's still goin on. www.groupbuycenter.com

if you search for it, I posted a bunch of pictures in this forum a while back. If you have more questions about my HID's, I'll be glad to help. But basically, the HID's are brighter, but I kinda expected more. I think I just need to play around with my aim.

oh and I think the color depends on the bulbs. Because apparently, Philips has a new bulb out that you can use that emits purplish. It depends on the Kelvin rating.

check my webpage too...more specifically, this page...

oh, and supposedly, Visions and K2 are the same, just under different names. Their boxes look the same...

howiedoit......Do you know what bulbs are used in your system. The reason I ask is because there are a 4 or 5 types of bulbs. A D2S bulb which is a plain HID bulb and a D2R which has a black paint in spots to control the light pattern.
I remember your posts awhile back...the problem with aiming the light pattern. I have two toyota ballasts ant the D2S bulbs, but would like to know if I should consider changing bulbs to avoid the same problem. Any input anyone???

Found my answer in the other HID post. Should have looked back more. Guess I need the D2S for the projector lens

How much labor time is going to be needed to install the kit? What will it cost approximately?

I think I am gonna go with the speedlight purple kit.

You MAY want to wait a couple of months, the 6000K kits are getting more exposure, and hopefully when they become more accessible, the 4300K kits will drop in price.

FYI, I paid $420 for my 4300K kit 3 months ago.

Another thing, don't ever buy bulbs that are tinted in any color. HIDs color output is determined by the heat output and your vehicle's headlight housing. BTW, I'd recommend the Phillips/Hella kit.

i have the chance to get the vision kit (4300K) for 350-400$ I didn't know that the 6000K were out, where can you buy the kits and approximately how much do they cost? I'd rather spend an extra few $$$ for the 6000K kit

Right now the 6000K kits are still rather expensive, for reference you can goto www.autolamps-online.com and check their current prices.

Also, if you are interested in the color of the 6000K as opposed to the 4300K:
