Default Difference between projector and HID lights?

I've been heavily considering going the retrofit route with my current headlights (2g GS300). I have a 5000K McCulloch kit in them now, however projector headlamps are becoming available for the GS in the states.

So what's the difference in the projector unit for halogen lights vs xenon lights? Since a retrofit won't have the auto-leveling of an OEM HID what would be the difference of using a standard projector and HID kit vs a retrofit with true D2S bulb?

As far as I can tell the bulb is the biggest difference between these two set ups correct? My wife's Honda Pilot has halogen projectors and I see a very sharp cut off compared to my headlights. Also the pictures I've seen of HID kits in the SC projectors seem to have sharp cut-offs as well.

Enlighten me please .

No replies?

Well I decided to purchase the projector headlights ($398). We'll see how good their projectors are.

Don't worry, I plan on unplugging the angel eyes

Looks like he painted the ring around the projector black.

Those headlights look ok, but it dont mean that you will have your factory leveling system in tact. Check out the following link for all your HID based questions.

i don't think he has hid headlights now.
i believe he just stuck a hid hit in a halogen headlight like i did.
Olu, a lot of questions have been asked about those headlights and u are the first to get them.
let us know what the output is like when installed. am looking at these or retrofitting myself.

You're correct, I've got a HID kit on stock halogen lights. I won't ever have auto-leveling, hence my original question on the differences between projectors

Light output on the McCulloch is 100x better then stock, but I have to aim them pretty low to avoid blasting on coming drivers. (I've driven towards them and they're not bad)

I'm not expecting a miracle from these. I expect less light output then what I have now, but more even distribution and much sharper cut. They can be aimed like OEM headlights as well. If the projectors really suck, this seems like a much easier unit to retrofit then stock.

We'll see, they are 2-3 weeks out (shipping from Hong Kong).
