Default Sylvania Silverstar - Silver Tipped and Non

Does anybody here know the differences b/w the Silverstar's (not the new Ultra's) with capped bulbs and not. I was looking at buying some H3's for my foglights. I saw on Ebay and locally that there's two variations of that size bulb; one with a normal bulb and one with bulbs that have a silver coating on the tip. Is there any differences? If someone could help me out with any info, that would be much appreciated. Thanks.

i believe the silver coating is on 9006 bulbs and not 9005 since normal 9006 bulbs have that "cap" and 9005 bulbs dont.

I did notice that 9005 and 9006 bulbs may sometimes differ in appearance, but you would expect H3 bulbs to appear the same, no? Still not sure...

The bulbs with the silver coating are the low beam and the one w/o the coating are the highs.

I'm still confused I realize that 9005/9006 bulbs are essentially low and high beam bulbs, but if the coatings denote the latter, would there be such a thing as low and high beam bulbs for an H3 Foglight application?? I'd say no...anybody?...

appreciate any info

H3 is a popular headlight bulb for motorcycles and some imports. Many cars use the same type of bulb for both High and low beams (my Jaguar for instance). Both bulbs in my Jag are H1, but the high beam bulbs are uncoated. The low beams are now HIDs

Thanks for the clarification, that makes sense now. But when buying an H3 for my application, would I buy the low (uncapped) or high (capped) bulb version? I don't want to blind anybody with the wrong ones. Thanks.
