You want the H11 HID kit for your low beams and a 9006 HID kit for your fogs.

I'd personally go with HID in both - the light output is INSANE.

i want to remove the fear everyone has about installing HID kits in their cars.

Check this out - I've got an HID flashlight!!

1200 lumens
1/4 mile range
90 minute burn time
20 second warm up time

The problem with the HID's is that if it's not in a projector-type housing, the light output and cutoff is not as good. I learned that the hard way.

Kanedl25- I agree but there are hid conversion bulbs that are designed to match the dimensions of the halogen bulb and the cutoff result is acceptable.

Here is a bulb from my car compared to the halogen it replaced:

Man, screw that...I have a home-made HID flashlight, or should I say searchlight!

All parts are from an automotive lighting system so specs are as follows.

Lumens: 3200-3500
Range: Don't know but it's insane...lol
Burn Time: 1hr approx
Warm-Up: Since it's a car HID it's made to warm up quick. I would say 5 sec?
Cost: $30 flashlight at costco, random assorted HID parts $100

I didn't get any beam pictures of it, but just think of daylight down a dark street at night

Oh wait, back on topic. The new RX series have halogen projector headlights. Putting in HID's in there won't be as bad as doing it in a halogen reflector bowl type headlight.

HOLY CRAP Jeff, what a searchlight! I have a searchlight with an H3 bulb and the output and range on that is pretty good already. Show us some more pics!

I think xenon is an option on those. I'm not 100% sure, but I think HID only comes standard on the LS430, the new LS460, SC430, and GS430. I think its an option for the IS250/350, GS350, ES350, and RX350. It's not even available at all for the GX and LX. That's what I had to retrofit my LX470

The reason to add in HID's afterwards is because it's WAAAAAAAY cheaper than to buy a whole new set of factory HID headlights and housings. This only applies to people who don't "think" they need HID's initially, but only to find out they "want" it after owning the car

WTH are you guys doing with these freeway lights???
UFO hunting???

Yeah, conservative lexus was too chicken to put hid in the gx and lx.

Prior to getting the h11 hid kit, I used d2s bulbs in the gx (and they fit) and they worked great. Focus was just slightly off by 1mm (as researched in hidplanet). I didn't see a major difference b/t the two, I would've been happy with the ballast/d2s bulbs.

Jeff, you should get another another searchlight, strap those on the bumpers and replace those weak headlights of yours

Well, to elaborate on what cliff said for vdt and for other noobies reading, you the h11 kit which consists of the h11 bulb + ballasts. Some people think that it's only the bulbs, but you need the ballast to light up the bulbs.

Rominl has a sticky regarding all the info's you need about HID lightings up on top
