Default Will this conversion kit work?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...sPageName=WDVW

I have a 99 GS300 with the non-HID housing, and have read through the stickys and saw this that fell into my price range. Will this fit my car?

If this wont could anyone link me to the philips conversion kit that will? Thanks a lot in advance.

Thumbs down

I would not waste my money on a cheap imitation!!
Layo's engineers have waited for Philips to perfect the xenon ballast, then simply copied the technology to save you tons of money! LOL as they say this under their "warning"
that to me is a dead give away!

They'll fit your car, but like EmeraldLexuSC3 said, don't waste your money. According to their pics, they don't look to be true 6000K bulbs. If you can't afford the real deal, then just save up until you can...you'll be much more satisfied in the long run.

it's so funny that they said the "ballasts" when the philips bulbs are the most important aspect of the hid kits...

forget about this one, save up more and get the right stuff

Just curious. How can you tell that it is not a Philips kit?

Philips nor Hella do not make aftermarket HID kits. Philips and Hella forbids and condemns any company who uses their ballast for non-factory application. They remain as OEM manufacturers only!!
Basically conversion kits are illegal or for off-road use only because:
1- You're using a headlamp that was designed for halogen use.
2- HID headlamps require auto-leveling.
3- Although Philips does make a 6000k lamp (D2S Ultinon), they do not make retro-fitted base lamps. It also means that these lamps (D2S Ultinon) are not street-legal in Europe or the USA. Consequently they are intended primarily for sale to the Asian and Canadian aftermarket.

So are you saying that when we see a packaged HID kit with Philips ballasts and bulbs, it is a knock off and the only way to get the real thing is to buy Philips bulbs and get used Philips ballasts off of a car with OEM HIDs (if these cars use Philips ballasts)?

nah shops will just continue to do it, especially those in asia, it's much harder to control, there is no way they can really stop it

Typically a package is pieced together, anyone can purchased a new Philips ballast seperately. Has far as I know Philips does not make retro fit HID lamps.

Well, I can understand that this kit is not a Philips branded kit but the components look like they are Philips. As far as getting a quality kit, isn't this all we'd care about?

Grant you that Philips makes a High-quality product, but again Philips does not make a HID conversion kit. At best from these kits you may get a Philips brand ballast, but even that is questionable, knowing that most of these kits offered on EBay are made and imported from the Asian regions and known for their crafty copying skills! And how to know if you are getting Genuine Philps lamps??..... you don't because, for one Philips does not make retro-fit housing lamps. Secondly, aftermarket companies modify D2S type bulbs by replacing the base with aftermarket housing to fit Halogen type headlamps so really there is no way to verify the authenticity of the capsules!
