"Best" is a hard thing to clarify. What do you mean by "best?" To me the "best" HID's are ones that are retrofitted from other newer cars that have HID's from the factory. Sure you can get a kit for like $400, but I personally prefer the retrofits. We have a "lighting section" on Club Lexus and also a "search" feature that will help you get answers to your questions quickly.

Surf the lighting section of the forum and read up, or enter a couple of key words into the "search" field and see what you come up with. Good luck

the most economical that i would suggest just getting the HID off nissan maxima and retrofit then on your sc, this should run you no more than $300

I'm guessing when you say "kit" you want something plug-n-play.
In that case look up the user: hidseller on eBay
Current bid # 7950854262

He sells one at a time so as soon as this one's over, he'll put another one up with a reasonable "Buy It Now" value.

I'm happy with the kit. It's not as bright as some of these retrofits, but it ain't no Silverstar either.

Good luck.

My X5 retrofit is the best It puts out so much light. My retrofit looks better than my 2001 RX300 w/HIDS. Lex4jess does have a nice bracket, That made it a straight forward job.

Don't the maxima's come with D2R bulbs so wouldn't he have to get D2S bulbs?

Regardless if they are D2R or D2S bulbs, if you plan to plug-n-play, you will need them re-based to fit 9006 in your Lexus, or they will never fit...

I know that but since the SCs came w/projectors, D2S bulbs would be more appropriate than D2R, correct?
