I want to fit HID D2 base bulb into H3 socket, but because the H3 bulb is shorter than HID bulb it hits the fog light bulb shield. So I think I should do either :
- use washer as spacer between the bulb base and the socket
- remove the shield
What is better ? and if I am going to remove shield how it will affect the light pattern and output? Better or worst!!
And if anyone removed the shield, how to do it? I know there is a screw but don't know how to reach it (open the fog light assembly).
i think removing the shield will cause tons of glare since light will be going everywhere instead of forced tot he back of the housing for some control.
if i have to guess, i would say put the fog in the oven for couple of mins and then pry open the lens. afterwards you will have to carefully reseal them of course
I noticed there are holes in the fog assembly where the front glass fits. I tried to pry open it but couldn't remove it, I think it is sealed. I will try to put it in the oven, but first i will see how much the fog assembly cost.. may be I'll get new set specially if going to retrofit a projector there!!
sounds like a plan. you can probably pm pandags430 or rmmgs4 to see how hot the oven should be and for how long. you don't wanna bake it for 1 hour to come back and see it all melted
