Default 5300k vs. 6000k HID Bulbs

I'm planning to upgrade my stock HID bulbs to something a little bit brighter with a tad of a purple tint. At the same time, I have yellow foglights and I'm afraid the purple-ness in the 6000k would look funny with yellow fogs. What do you guys recommend? Does anyone have pictures of 6000k with yellow fogs? The 5300k is just bright white correct? Stock is 4100k? Thanks guys.

Actually, 6000k is not purple. It is white with a hint of blue. Sorry no yellow fogs but here is an old one of mine with 6000k in Halogen housings with clear fogs:

Neo, did you have factory HID before? If so was there a big difference between stock HID and 6000k? I would like to see 6000k compared to 4100k if anyone has pictures. That's a very nice shade btw Neo, I'm leaning towards the 6000k due to your picture.

Nope. Halogens. This is a pic of the 6000k HID kit in halogen housings. It should "project" cleaner with HID housings but the color should be similar.

I read in this forum before that the 4100K bulbs becomes more blue after 100hours, are the 6000K bulbs also have the same change? will they become more blue/purple!

negative....actually REAL german 6000k bulbs (Phillips) ARE purple...I know I paid $400 for em almost 2 years ago.

they are the most colored HID capsule, without sacrificing too much lumen loss

btw, to the original poster, 5000k bulbs were phillips answer to ppl who burnt out 1 stock OEM 4300k bulb...after I think 1000 on time hours, the 4300k bulbs "shift" to 5000k in color

this way, the owner could buy one bulb, instead of two (so the colors would match)

Well, both my bulbs and ballasts are Philips and the color is certainly not purple.

I got into a car accident and the driver side headlight is out. The bodyshop replaced the whole HID headlight assembly with a new ballast and bulb. So is this gonna match the other side color wise? My GS400 is a 98', so it's probably had quite a few hours used up.

to be honest, I am not and never was a fan of HID retro kits, (especially after 2 died on me way back when)

real phillips 6000k Ultinon D2R/D2S capsules are purple with a hint of white/yellow

honestly, the whole thing about white/yellow/blue/purple, no one can say it for sure. from different angle, different background, different usage, you get different color anyway. philips is no doubt the pioneer in hid. they are that good. if you put the philips 6000k with the stock, you think it's white with a bit blue. if you put it together with osram 6000k, you think it has a bit purple (the osram is whiter). if you put it together with the 7500k, you think it's purple, if you put it together with 8000k or 10000k, you think it's blue. so nop, personally i will not say definitely it's purple, and i don't think anyone can PROVE that. i will just say it's whiter than 4300k, and it has a bit blue/purple in it. specially if the car is rolling, on certain angle you see purple. on most angle you see white/blue

and neo has real philips bulbs too, i am very sure and all 6000k bulbs, as long as they don't have the colored glass, they give out roughly the same amoutn of lumens anyway

all hid bulbs will have a burn in time, after the burn in time it will look a bit bluer and richer in color. over time it will just get bluer and bluer and one say it's gone

you should also ask for two new bulbs, coz' the two hid bulbs won't match each other at all. and getting 5000k is not the answer too, coz' over time they will just get bluer and bluer, you don't know if your headlights are now 5000k or 5400k, or 5800k...

I am not quite sure what the two has do do with eachother. HID kits have pros and cons but Philips 6000k bulbs are 6000k bulbs. If you put D2S bulbs in projectors vs D2R bulbs in reflectors, then there is a color difference (mainly because of the projector lens). The bulbs on its own burns pretty white to me.
