SC4 Headlight Cleaning
I just disassembled and cleaned both my headlights - what a job, but the results are worth it. I won't go into too much detail because its already been covered here before. I will say this though, placing your headlights in an oven is a nervewracking experience, especially after hearing the horror stories about melted lights, etc. On my lights I removed the small internal diffuser in front of the turn signal and it appears to have provided a brighter light when the signal is on. I also removed the clear plastic dome or condom from the 194 wedge bulb as mine has small burn marks on them from the bulbs. The result is much cleaner light.
Also, if you have dim fogs, you can remove the metal light shield in the housing. Getting the shield out was tricky, I ended up drilling small access holes to get to the screws and then partially cutting off one of the screw brackets to remove it. But again, there is much more light now with that removed. While I was in there I replaced the bulbs with H3 Silverstars to match my headlights. I'm quite happy with the way everything turned out.
