Default SC400 E39 retrofit Completed

I finally completed my E39 retro on my SC400 and oh my god! This has to be te number #1 upgrade Ive done so far. Special thanks to Siniqueza for all his help. Here you go guys. Oh yeah also Lex4jess for His E39 bracket made the retrofit so much easier. Needed a dremel for a few things but I think it was a very well spent $50 bucks for the brackets.

How do I add color? It gives a very blue hue at first then whitens out. They are 4300K bulbs. Sorry again about the name siniquezu

Remember that stock HID's are all the same color at around 4100k. What makes them colorful is the projectors. Adding colored aftermarket bulbs (5000k or 6000k or more) reduces light output. Don't sacrifice output for color when you can get the colors you want from the projector and retain your high lumens.

To add color you could bend the shield further towards the reflector bowl.

If these are bi-xenons I wouldn't recommend this as the movable shield would get stuck and you'd lose the high beam operation.

I have these in bi-xenon and yes these projectors are boring as far as refraction and the color output is not very fun. I modded my sheilds and now I get a nice purply-blue in the fringes. I lost the bixenon operation but that's okay, I have bigger plans for that.

If pretty colors is what you wanted you should have gone with a set of Valeo ECE spec projectors for Audi A4/S4. Those are really nice and the cut-off is so sharp you could set your watch to it. I'm getting these if I ever decide to redo my retro.

Good luck fitting the Valeo ECE/ Audi A4/S4 projectors in though. I have a set and it has way too much space to fit in the projector properly. A better way to get purple color is to add washers (don't know the size off the top of my head 3/16" or something similar ) to the bottom mounting points of the lens and shield.

What exactly was the fitment issue? If you have them for sale, I'd be interested to experiment with them.

There is way too much space in the housing for them. The diameter is too small and the length is too short. If you are interested in a purchase, PM me.

1/16" is the size of the washers you want to use. Anything more will blur your cuttoff pattern. Use one 1/16" inch washer and test your pattern. Go in 1/16" increments until you get the color and pattern you desire. Attach the washers on the two bottom screws by unscrewing the lense assembly legs and then placing 1 washer on the bottom left and another on the bottom right. Rescrew the assembly to the reflector bowl and voila.

My E39 pics I have on a thread here all are color modded using 1/16" washers.
Hope that helps
