Question GS housing replacement

I have a 98 GS400 w/HIDs. The plastic lens have become a bit hazy and pitted. I'm tired of sanding and polishing. I was thinking about replacing the housings only. Do I need to swap w/HID housings or could I swap w/non hid housings??

I don't want to buy new ones, and have noticed several used and MUCH cheaper housings listed on ebay. Should I stick to just hid housings?? After reading Romini's sticky, I'm under the impression that only a HID housing will do. Is this correct??

Thanks

If you have HIDs, then get the HID housings. The non-HIDs have a different reflector pattern, have no place to put your leveling computer and ballast, and the connector/locking mechanism is different for the HID bulbs.
