Default Lexus GS Auto Leveling

I'm curious to find out how the auto leveling headlights work. Whenever I have my headlight switch in auto and turn on the car, I can see the beam go from low to high which looks really cool.

i believe that the autoleveling motors run through a motion cycle everytime your car starts. that way, if the autoleveling system has a malfunction, your dash warning light will come on. you can turn your headlights on, then start your car, and it'll run through the same cycle.

yes, i believe there are two sensors on the car, one in the front and one in the back (should be at the wheel suspensions). when you start the car, the auto leveling will run through a complete set of initializationing, by adjusting the headlights all the way to the lowest, and then raise it up to the correct position determined by the data feedback from the sensors.
