Default Brightest non-HID bulbs available

Can anyone make a recommendation on the brightest headlight replacement bulbs for the SC400. Long-life should also be considered as part of the criteria. Thanks.

I second the Sylvania Silverstars. I've tried a few different halogens and the brightest ones I've tried are the Silverstars. I've also heard very good things about the PIAA bulbs too, but I never did give them a try. Now I'm waiting to receive my HID kit I just ordered! YIPPEEE!

I've had PIAA Xtreme White lows in my '01 ES for almost 7 months now, and no signs of fading brightness or power. Works great, not blinding bright, but bright enough to mimic the HID-look.

I think i'm going to get Sylvania Silverstars high beam,/fog/parking with philips 6000k conversion kit.
Does anyone know where i can buy sylvania sliverstars for all of my lights? I see a lot of high and low beam, but no fog or parking offered.

To get a bright bulb you have to use a non-Dot approved bulb ....meaning higher wattage .....if you use a DOT approved bulb you can get a whiter bulb but not mucher brighter that stock...................MIKE(I use nonDOT)......LOOK

Default Non-DOT...

I have found a couple of places on e-Bay that sells Japan version of the PIAA bulbs rated respectively at 4150K, 4700K, 5000K, 6500K and 7500K. The higher the Kelvin rating, the brighter and closer to sunlight. My question is, how durable are these compared to the US version which tops out at 4000K only? PIAA does not sell anything above that. Also, I am concerned about the higher Kelvin rated bulbs possibly heat-damaging my headlight housings. Anyone have any comments on that?

Mike, what kind of bulbs at what wattage and Kelvin rating do you have in your car and how long have you been using them?

Mike, what brand are your bulbs? They look good on your car. At 5000K, are they not supposed to be a bit blueish?

Not just the wattage but the "color" of the bulb (the coating) for NON-HID bulbs.

I know you're talking about imitation HID bulbs but also, note that HID's only run at 35W, which is less than your standard 55W halogen bulbs.

You have to be careful with higher wattage bulbs, you can burn out wiring. I know 1SickLex had aftermarket bulbs in his fogs and one of the wires burned out. Don't know what kind, sorry.
