Default LFA sells for 720K

2012 Lexus LFA (CHASSIS NO. JTHHX8BH7C1000428) at RM Sotheby’s Amelia Island just hammered for 720,000. It had under 500 miles, but wow. What a difference a year makes.

Everyone's just piling their cash into assets. Different world now.

Closed a deal on #408 just before the auction, glad we did so!

Yea crazy number. Technically the hammer was 650k. After the buyer’s premium the total was indeed 720k.

Never ceases to amaze me how much the auction house makes. 12% on first 250k, 10% thereafter. From buyer alone! Plus I think another 10% from seller. Seems wild to me that the buyer pays 720 and the seller only gets 585.

With so few ever available, prices going up dramatically recently, and seemingly less popping up for sale lately, makes you wonder whether the seller would have been better off selling this particular car directly or on consignment at an exotic car dealership. The auction houses are great and certainly add a lot of value for much of what they sell, but special of an LFA could’ve sold itself pretty much anywhere with the seller taking a bigger chunk of the pie.

Oh well. Absolutely spectacular spec, hope it found a nice home.

This was a really nice spec with the custom red Alcantara dash and center console. LFA 416 & 499 almost had a similar interior less the Alcantara.
