I haven't seen any other supercar that has a rear end like the LF A, with the strange shape of the rear radiators, the triangular exhaust, and the rear tails.
Those are details. It's still a basic wedge. There are many other cars in this class far more exotic in design. Not that the LF-A isn't breathtaking in its own right but it just doesn't set any new design standards from a styling perspective.

I've had the pleasure of visiting both his homes and the design is fantastic, especially the one in FL he had a huge hand in.

I'm with him, I don't see 3000GT and that is a car I like and see monthly at meets.

LMAO.... TMI "son" TMI

Just tell the man he has no taste....

The R8 V10 is rated at 525 HP adn as far as I know the LF-A will be around that much HP as well. When you get up to this price range, its hard to differentiate performance. So I guess the real quaestion will be, will people consider the LF-A in the same class as the rest of the $350000 cars.

There are also quite a few cars far less exotic in this class, design-wise. Yes the LF-A is not a ground-breaking design, but the design is still good enough to be breathtaking and exotic. One likely reason that they could not be very radical with the design is that to achieve the performance goals for the car, Toyota had to follow a "form follows function" philosophy with some of the design.

There is some insider info which claims the LF-A II exterior design did not meet Toyota's performance expectations in the wind tunnel, and combined with some mixed reaction at autoshows compared to the LF-A I concept, they changed the styling to what you see in these pictures.

Yes the pics of the car you see still have camouflage. The full production car we have not seen yet.

I don't know where you get your information, but the LF A is supposed to have at least 550HP, possibly more, and it is a much lighter car than the R8 V10. The LF A will weigh several hundred pounds less than the R8 V10 while making more power. The R8 V10 also fails to even achieve a 200 mph top speed. The LF A is rumored to have a top speed well over 200 mph.

Just like the Nissan GT-R, the R8 V10 is nothing more than a Porsche 911 Turbo competitor. Except, the R8 V10 is much more expensive than the GT-R. The regular R8 is a competitor to regular 911 models.

These cars are not about value, they are about exclusivity, looks, panache, showmanship, stats, heritage (not in Audi/Lexus case here) and performance.

The Audi is cheaper b/c it shares with Lambo. The LF-A is all bespoke and everything is created from the ground up for it.
Audi doesn't have heritage?
Could have fooled me and their 100 year history.

.

I am well aware of Audi's heritage and even their wonderful TDI racers.

You missed the entire point tough, the R8 is the first "supercar" Audi. They are not Ferrari or Lambo, Porsche etc, thus there is no "heritage" with the R8. No no way am I knocking the R8 but it is what it is. It "looks" exotic but its pricetag is actually reasonable. I'm not sure if is makes others in this class look way overpriced or b/c it shares parts. The R8 has the V-8 from the RS4, the LF-A will not offer a V-8 from the IS-F for example.

Reading the Ferrari etc forums, many completely dismiss the car b/c it is an Audi. I expect the same from a lot of people when the LF-A is sold "oh an exotic Lexus, it probably sucks" and the same ole dumbass rhetoric.

The bottom line is my point is the R8 and LF-A have no immediate heritage b/c they have no predecessor(s). The R8 had a few "concept" predecessors but no production cars. Has Audi been around for 100 years? Yup. Are most of their cars sold small FWD A4 4 cylinders? Yup.

It was just a random pointless comment. I didn't mean to get everybody's
panties in a bunch

BTW, I've always loved the 3000GT. LF-A looks all right to me...

Hopefully the production model will lose the horsewhip antenna.

The black car clears up how the front headlamps are going to look like. Looks like there will be a sort of "S" line leading from the air dams, edging the headlamp, making the bodaciously huge front fenders, curving around into the top air intake on the side. The white car does a good job of hiding this line, which I find kind of ugly on the black car from a directly front view. Interesting detail though... I'll reserve further judgement til the camo is off.

And seriously what's up with the fins sticking up in the rear? I thought the middle spoiler would be flush with them when retracted but dude they just STICK OUT RANDOMLY

The spoiler is speed sensitive, it goes up at higher speeds, and lowers at slower speeds

Yeah, i know, but look at the trunk... its clean. No lines or anything indicating a panel (spoiler) being there ... maybe its there and we cant see it, but it looks like its missing.... and it also seems like the spoiler should align with the flaps on the sides if it was there...

could this be another version of the LF-A? (race ready version?) ... time will tell...
