Exclamation Spy Shots: LF-A Spyder!!!

The Lexus LF-A concept car has just made another public appearance, at the Tokyo Motor Show. However, while the shiny display model was on the Lexus stand, a black-clad prototype was busy at Germany's Nurburgring circuit. Toyota officials let slip in Tokyo that the LF-A is going to have a V10 engine, developed from the engines in Toyota's F1 cars, which is thought to develop over 500bhp and give 200mph-plus capability. Although the engine is front- rather than mid-mounted, the LF-A will be rear-wheel drive, and Lexus has promised "the ultimate weight balance", "extravagant comfort" and "precision operation."
While we can't see the car's roof clearly under all this disguising, word is that the LF-A could well come with the option of a metal folding roof, as Lexus aims to take on the likes of the Mercedes SL65 AMG as well as the Porsche 911 Turbo, Ferrari F430 and Aston Martin DB9 coupes and their drop-top counterparts

The LF-A hasn't yet been confirmed for production, but the continued and sustained testing of prototypes like this, plus the repeat appearance of the concept car at international motor shows, suggests that it's a pretty definite contender

I think its safe to say the LFA will become a reality. I highly doubt Lexus would go through the trouble to make and test a spyder version of the concept.

How about we see some IS coupe/convertible spy shots before an LF-A convertible?

Seriously, it's awesome to see those exciting prototypes coming out of Lexus, but I'd much rather that they put their priorities on their bread-and-butter cars first.

Hot damn, didn't see this coming! Yeah, looks like it will come. And one thing I do like about the SL is it can be a coupe/convert and look beautiful as both. Though I hope this doesn't hurt weight too much.

Are you guys not seeing that periwinkle colored car in the showroom?

Since you said that was real, I cannot believe Lexus is releasing the car with a front end like that. It is hideous.

Thank you for saying that. I agree. I still don't know what "L-Finesse" means. Seems more like "L-Bee-Esse"

But the LF-A should be an impressive performer. I hope it has some kind of active suspension!

Yeah I also hope the front end looks a little different. Wat to droopy. But I'm proud to see a roaster as well. That is sweet. IS Coupe must be next.

looks sweet!

something that concerns me though is that on every test mule we see, they all have that big *** spoiler on it. I know its just for testing, but could that mean that it needs it for stability at speed?

Looks potentially beautiful in the spy pics, except that spoiler needs to change. I hope the final design will be in some ways like the original SC, with more angular lines and hopefully added in some smooth curves, not all hard-edged...especially the front which in the renderings and on the normal LF-A needs change.
