1997 LS400 Coach Edition - SOLD
Edit: SOLD
Up for sale is my 1997 Lexus LS400 Coach Edition. It has been an amazing car and one of my all time favorite sedans, but it just doesn’t fit my needs right now so I am passing it on for someone else to enjoy! My biggest pause in the decision to sell is that the car is amazingly reliable. Plus I find the bold lines of this model very attractive.
The car has been in my family since 1998 and has received EVERY bit of maintenance or repair needed. I have every record and receipt from the car. Right now the car is in perfect mechanical condition and needs absolutely nothing. Oregon tags are good until 8 of 2010. Title is CLEAN and in hand!
Recent work done:
- Timing belt and water pump 3k miles ago. You won’t need to replace it for another 90k miles. It’s a $1200 job already done for you! Every gasket, seal, pulley, etc. was replaced at this time.
- Front rotors turned and rear brake calipers rebuilt. Pads and rotors have lots of life left.
- New engine mount
- 1 oxygen sensor replaced.
- Oil/filter changed 7/19/09
The car has 200k miles on it which sounds like a lot. Anyone that knows Toyota V8 motors knows that they are amazingly reliable and long lasting. It does not burn through oil or coolant, and still has as much power as it did when new. Good maintenance is to thank for that! Engine is smooth and powerful, transmission shifts perfectly, etc.
The car comes with 2 sets of wheels and tires. Summer wheels are 18” 5-spokes (plenty of sidewall on the tire so it’s still a very comfortable ride), and the factory wheels have some great snow tires on them. When snow hits, this car is fantastic to drive in!
A few problems with the car (of course):
- 1 tear in the front driver seat, it’s roughly 1.5” so not too large. The rear seat bottom has some small holes and another 1.5” tear thanks to my dog (a big reason to move on from this car).
- Driver side heated seat element does not work.
- Antenna functions but does not extend. I prefer it down so I haven’t fixed it. The issue is a $15 plastic gear in the motor that is easily fixable on your own.
- CD changer doesn’t work. I haven’t looked into it since iPod’s are easier than carrying 100 cd’s with you!
Kelly Blue Book values the car at $6,000 (yes, even with the mileage). I feel $4,500 is more appropriate though.
I will be taking some detailed pictures of the interior in the next few days. Feel free to e-mail or call with any questions you have! No calls after 9 pm please. PM or post if you have any questions.

Other than what is mentioned above, everything works.
I am fine shipping the car (at the buyers cost of course)! There is a local place I have used a couple of times that has done a good job at a reasonable rate. I will send you a pm with my number so you can call me to talk about the car and shipping items.

Loading up pics right now! I hope these turned out better than the last set... Boy I don't like my camera.
Also, forgot to mention I dropped the price to $4500. Will update the original post when I put the pictures up in a bit.
