Default Will Lexus ever add 3rd row to RX?

Is Lexus ever going to add a 3rd row to the RX so it can seat 7 passengers? We've looked at the GX but I have no need/interest in a V8. And the MPG on the GX is a show stopper for me.

The newer Acura MDX/Infiniti QX60 seat 7 passengers with an MPG over 20.

I am hoping Lexus does something with the RX. Any idea on when or if that will happen?

I would eyeball firsthand the 3rd row of the Acura and Infiniti because the third row of our Highlander is not big enough for an adult. It's good enough for a child or a dog. Very small. We've never used it. I think the MDX and the QX60 are probably the same, although I've never seen them.
As to the RX getting a 3rd row seat, I don't think it's in the works.

We don't use it for adults but for our kids and their friends it's a must. I just leased another MDX but hoping Lexus has something for me in about 3 years from now. Hope that rumour about the TX is true.

From what I've heard, the RX will be redesigned and bigger for 2016. Which should be out close to spring of 2015 if they release it early like the other RXs. Then about 2-3 years after that will add 3rd row.

So all of this is off now. They have killed the RC convertible and instead will make an LS-based 3 row crossover by 2017-8.

But anyone who buys a 3rd row SUV and wants to use it regularly should just man up and buy a minivan. It is about 1 million times more useful and more comfortable for 3rd row use.

Absolutely agree. Had my Toyota Sienna for eight solid years. Awesome van and vastly superior in every way at hauling people. Everyone was comfortable in that. Also how many third row seating suv can move a 96" couch and nearly the entire living room in one move? Helped a few friends do that and they became Sienna owners.

Take a look at the 2015 Sienna fully loaded. That's a VERY NICE ride. If my kids were still little I'd be all over that. Sigh....

Yeah, we have a T&C, but now that they finally brought the Sienna interior up to par, it is really nice. I've heard rumors of an Acura version of the Odyssey - so that would be interesting as well.
