Default New Lexus being built at TMMK

On the local news tonight, Toyota Kentucky (Georgetown) is announcing 750 new jobs. They are moving production of the Sienna to Indiana and adding a Lexus model. They didn't say which one. Anyone know? The Camry and Avalons are also built there. And I think the Venza as well.

Looks like it will be the ES350, starting in 2015. Makes sense, since that is where the Camry is built.

2013 ES350 is no longer on the Camry platform but the Avalon.

A lot of people, especially on Lexus facebook page who don't know what they are talking about are already saying things like" oh their goes the quality" and "Im paying $50,000 for a Japanese product made in the US". I would have though the US public would welcome the opportunity of jobs being created and selling a quality product homegrown. Toyota have been building cars in the US and UK for over 20 years and they have proven to be just as good quality as their Japanese counterparts. They have standards which have to be met.

Honda and Toyota have proven over many years that their American made cars are at least as good as those made in Japan. Honda is so confident that the new Accura NSX will be built in Ohio!

I was at TMMK in Georgetown last month for some business meetings. The 2015 ES350 will be built on a new line. Lots of activity to get ready for start of production, which I believe is September 2014. It is a big deal. Unfortunately, public tours are not yet permitted.
