I'm real sorry - but what the hell is up with everybody going Mazda these days?

First it was the Acura RL turning Mazda3

... now it's the IS replacement (if those pics are at all accurate) which looks like a Mazda3 ...

We'll see how the production models look - hopefully quite a bit different.

With only a year away, I am surprised that Lexus did not reveal the new IS yet.

Lexus is only second to the CIA in terms of secrecy...The only Lexus proof we can have faith in is the heavy metal sitting on the dealer's lot...

Only with the V6 right ?

BTW, Mercedes has announced that all 2005 S-class will come with 4matic as standard.

Take those with a grain of salt.... better yet, grab the shaker.

Just how well is the current SC selling? I ask because the IS in the picture has a similar nose and the inferior ends of the side mimic the SC430. The rear doors look too small and the rear tail lights look like it was mimicked from the rx330. I don't see why the IS and other future gens will resemble the current SC430 when the SC430 will go through a subtle redesign in 2006 (similar to the redesign from 94-95 or as drastic as the 96-97, i'm thinking the latter).

and unless toyota enlarges the upcoming V6 to be 3.5L, I don't see why the GS will be 3.3 (confirmed) and the IS 3.5 (rumour). That's just not Toyota's style.

Default New Shots of the next IS

These are just magazine depictions, but I can't imagine that they're far off at ALL considering the L-Finesse, the new body style for the GS, and the distinctive IS styling cues. Check em out:

Now I'm not gonna sit here and say what other cars it looks like, because that doesn't get us anywhere, but in the first pic I don't like how high the back looks. I was relieved at the second pic, because it makes it look much better. I like it though, nice evolution from the current IS, and nowadays, cars seem to jump from one generation to the next, and not evolve.

I'm really starting to see the "LF" influences on Lexus' new models, and although I hated the first concept, I really am impressed by what the designers have done, and the routes they have taken on all of their cars.
