Default ML in the GX470 Question. PLEASE HELP

I have a 03' GX470 with the ML system.

This is my second GX, as the first one was bought back by Lexus for the tow hitch issue. On the new GX it doesn't seem to have the same loudness or bass or clarity at the higher volumes like my last one did.

Anybody know what might be causing that?

Is the amp adjustable?

I was thinking since it has all three of those problems I listed above, it wouldn't be the speakers, so I'm thinking it is either an under rated amp, or the amp is set low (if it is even adjustable).

Any insight or suggestions would be appreciated.

Again I have no problem with the sound of the system and it sounds the same at the lower volumes, just doesn't have the umph in the very high volume settings.

As a side note I did go down to my nearest dealer and tested a couple of CD's in a different GX and it sounded like it is supposed to. So I know something is going on.

My problem is the service department doesn't have the equipment to test speaker and amp output and unless you are at the highest volumes it sounds the same as the others, so I think I will get "it sounds fine to me" from the service dept.

PLEASE HELP

If the ML system in the GX is like that of other Lexus cars, the amplifier is separate from the radio tuner and CD changer components. I'd have them swap out the amplifier first and see if that makes any difference. This should be fairly easy and ask them to try a older GX amp (if possible) in case there was a design change at Harmon Kardon/Denso. Secondly, have the subwoofer examined for proper connection and even swapped out as a last resort test. I doubt your other speakers are the problem as long as they are producing descent sound.
