New Owner Needs Help
I just purchased a 1999 LX470. I would like to know if there is a way to connect my IPOD MP3 Player to the stereo system. Does the Nakamichi unit have an auxillary input? Should I purchased a new stereo unit? Any help is greatly appreciated.
do a search on the forum.
there are companies that sell FM transceivers that plugs in to your headphone jack.
Then you just tune in the FM station in your car and you have MP3 tunes + no wires.

Link your favorite portable device with your car or home stereo without wires, without headaches! Enjoy your music collection on the go!
Simply plug the 300W into any audio output source (MP3, CD, cassette player, etc), choose one of four FM frequencies, and tune your radio to that frequency. All you do is relax and listen without wires or clumsy cassette adapters.

WELCOME TO THE CLUB. READ THE POST CALLED "AUTOTOYS AUX ADAPTER HERE" ON THE LEXUS ELECTRONIC FORUM BY TOM ES300. ALL THE INFO ALSO APPLIES TO ANY 12 PIN CD CHANGER PORT LEXUS RADIO WHICH THE LX470 HAS.I BELIEVE BLITZSAFE ALSO HAS A AUX ADAPTER FOR THE LX470 CD CHANGER PORT..DISPITE HAVING A 6 DISC CHANGER IN THE RADIO LEXUS STILL HAD A CD CHANGER PORT FOR AN EXTERNAL CHANGER TO BE PLUGGED IN....................................................................................................................................................................................................... IT IS ACTUALLY A GOOD THING THEY DID KEEP THE EXTERNAL CD CHANGER PORT SINCE THE INTERNAL LX470 CD CHANGER GETS JAMMED SO EASILY. YOU COULD ACTUALLY RUN AN EXTERNAL CD CHANGER AND GIVE UP ON THE JAMMED INTERNAL CHANGER. ALSO IN YOUR CASE IT IS POSSIBLE TO USE THE CD CHANGER PORT TO DIRECTLY INPUT AN EXTERNAL SOUND DEVICE WITHOUT HAVING TO USE THE EXTREMELY LOW SOUND QUALITY FM ANTENNA PORT. MODULATED FM INPUT DOESNT SOUND ANY BETTER THAN THE RADIO AND IS SUBJECT TO FM INTERFERENCE. THE CD CHANGER PORT INPUTS THE SOUND DIECTLY TO THE AMPLIFIER WITHOUT HAVING TO COME THROUGH THE RADIO AS AN FM STATION.
Thanks so much for the help. So my Nakamichi Head Unit actually has a CD Changer Port even though there is a built in 6 disc changer in the unit? I did not realize the changer was built into the unit. One other question. I assume that I would simply press the CD button on the head unit to activate the MP3 player, but how would the head unit know to activate the MP3 player or the built in changer? If these questions sound elementary, I applogize.
