2002 NAV vs. 2003 NAV
I am the happy owner of an Early 2002 SC430 and an Early 2003 GX470. The NAV screens in both vehicles look and operate differently. I know in later model 2002 SC's the NAV screen looks and operates more like my 2003 GX.
What would I have to do to change the 2002 NAV to look and operate like the 2003 NAV? Is there an EPROM change necessary?
My dealer is saying that it can not be accomplished, I find THAT hard to believe.
The dealer suggested I buy a $500 map update and it MAY fix the problem. Before I waste $500 I want you guys (the experts) to tell me what to do.

the software is resident on the DVD, and will update to ECU ram automatically if a newer version is detected. There should be a warning on the DVD that says something like "Upon installation of this disk, you system software will automatically be updated. After this update, your navigation system will only support map DVD version XXXX".
Warning, once you do it, you cannot go back, so make sure you wanna do it first.

Why would anyone want to go back? Has anyone done the update and regretted it?
