Thumbs down Optimia battery sucks a**

Just wanna say my optima battery sucks ***,
after 9 months of use, it failed!
Not only that but it is HOT to the touch on one corner. It's been failing for the last 2 months, takes a few cranks to start the car. Now the corner get gets hot SPLIT open!
I asked Optima about hteir warranty, and they said "NO" because it was cracked open.
But it cracked on it's own, it was never dropped or hit with a hammer....

I understand you're being upset, but I'm sure other batteries of different makes have had the same problems or worse. This is the first time I've heard of a problem with and Optima. Maybe you should take pics and write to someone at the company? Or speak to a supervisor?
Just ideas to help you get your money back.
Good luck!
Tim

ps- sounds like you had a bad cell

Before you judge a product based on one person's experience, I would recommend doing a search and seeing how many people are happy with theirs. I have had mine for more than 1 year and couldn't be happier.

they produce more of these batteries every day than you and 50 of your closest friends will ever use in a lifetime times 10 and people still expect perfection from each and every unit.

Isn't lexus having a rash of T.B's over the new lineup?

itsha appensa ... it's mass produced. i bet the next one lasts years.

Thumbs down

I had lost the reciept....

So I was told to contact Optimia directly, because the battery's have a burn date stamped on the side.
(if you loose the receipt they warranty it from the burn date instead of the purchase date)

I contacted optima,
and the jerks told me no returns if their is any damage on the case. (What about when batteries explode; it's rare but it does happen)
I pulled it out of the car, cause I was worried it might explode!
and spill acid everywhere.

They told me tough luck....

hell I can change a clutch and manifold (can't do head gasket yet)
and they're trying to say it was installation error so I eat the bill!

what a bunch of asses....

at least when I buy a pep boys or auto zone battery they don't give me an attitude and even offer to test my old one to make sure it's a bad battery and not altenator (I pass on the service tough)

bunch of cousin screwing hicks over at optimia..... their customer service is terrible and very very rude!

$140 for a peice of junk battery...

I'm buying pep boys or autozone or sears from now on!!!

your losing the southern majority vote the more you speak.

It would peeve me too if they did that, sounds like they had a bad day in customer service, but remember... those "cousin screwing hicks" at OPTIMA are designing and making one of the top rated and most popular batteries in the country that all those "non cousin screwing non hicks" are buying like a candy store with a 50% off sale.

Optima is the "Lexus" of Interstate Batteries. Check out the Interstate Batteries home page.

Nice batteries. I managed to kill 3 of them but I am impressed with the abuse they took. An interstate one did not last me a month.

It's funny. I was on the other forum and bunch of people complained how they were defective and stopped working. It has to be the quality control.

I don't think they're acid free. I do now they are sealed and water adding/maintenance free.

I'm not sure if you did this or not but, whenever I'm having customer service issues, I always speak to a supervisor. Most CS reps don't really care if you get what you want and if they try to help you it ends up being more work for them. Oh, and if you're not getting anywhere with the supervisor, always threaten to hurt their business, like posting on message boards and such. It will usually help.
