Default Vlad Video-Nav Installation Probs...

I am having Vlads kit installed by a stereo installer. He called and said that he has everything hooked up. When the bypass plugs are in everything works fine, just like before. When he puts the black box and GEX in he only gets a black screen. Any ideas???

I have an email into Vlad, but with no phone number--I am not sure when he will read it. I am paying the installer to put this in the car and I know the more he works on "troubleshooting" it the more I am paying.

Please Help!!!

Mine did the same thing when I first put it in. Tell the installer to hit the reset button on the GEXP7000TV unit. I spent a few hours re checking all of my connections, I hit the reset button and all was good. Literally a two second fix. Hopefully this will work for you. Good Luck.

From the sounds of it, it doesn't sound like the GEX is turning on. If it was related to the 4 video wires you would see a flicker or color (or missing a color) on screen.

Make sure he has the GEX fully connected to power (both power leads) and the parking brake wire grounded. Also the remote IR eye plugged in and then use the GEX's remote to turn on (v.sel) the GEX pointed at the IR eye.

Hope this helps. It could always be a defective Vlad kit or defective GEX... but only draw this conclusion after everything else is checked out.

Thanks, that did it. I have been pulling my hair out over this.

Its crazy isnt it, a damn reset button!! It just happens to be oneo f the last things installers usually think about checking on a new item. Glad to hear that worked for you.

When I have the bypass wire connected, the navi screen is fine, but when I have the gex/pbna-1 hooked up, the color seems dim and I get horizontal lines scrollin behind the picture, also whenever my bass hits from the sub, the screen dims, I don't have either the gex or the pbna-1 hooked up to the amp's power, It is connected to the distribution block before the amp. Any Ideas?

The GEX-P7000TV has a weak RGB video circuit and only a redesign would help the color output. Pioneer had made a mistake in earlier GEX units and placed 4.7uF surface mount cap(s) on the RGB traces where the schematic called for 47uF. I don't think changing the caps alone will make up for it's weak video circuit.

When I'm on navi mode, the picture is clean and crisp, but when i witch to dvd player on vtr1, I get some sort of interferance scrolling back and forth behind the image, is this due to a bad ground for the gex unit? I tried moving the ground to a different spot and it seemed better , but not totally elimnated, I think I was gettin some interferance from grounding it too close to the amps power wire, and now that I have moved it to a bolt behind the backseat it seems better, is there anything else that could be casuing the interference/ghost lines on vtr1 mode?

I grounded the Gex chassis to a bolt on the body of the car and that seemed to help alot, its much harder to notice the interference now, so I guess it was better grounding of the gex unit.
