I almost returned my 2014 LS460 L after the first 2 days due to the ML sounding so tinny. I understand the bandwidth limitations of XM, but the entire sound system was disappointing - even taking phone calls through it sounded so bad I was embarrassed to answer if I had a passenger. I ended up setting the fader to almost entirely in the back, which sounds a little better, but still pretty bad. Also, what's with the XM tuning? You can't see a directory of channels? I asked the sales guy about it and he says "well, you need to know the number of the station you want to listen to".... I should have returned it then and there!

They were probably being paid by the hour. 2000 hours of calibration have never sounded worse. An aftermarket PC sound based system with a ASUS modified sound card and the right software and tuning, as well as top notch aftermarket speakers and solid amplification would completely blow the doors off the ML / 2000 hour system.

A good DSP tuning would only require a few hours if the processing power and programming / software are up to snuff.

A few of us have talked about taking the sub signal and just adding an amp and better speaker to give us the ability to "round out" or "fill" the bottom end.
