Question Question about built in radar detector

Hello, all! Got my first Lexus last Friday and I love it! A '96 SC400. I am sure I'll have many more questions down the road, but my first one is, does anyone know anything about the built-in radar dectector on this model? There's a small round **** underneath the dash that turns it on. There's also a larger **** that turns the little light between the speedo & tach either green or amber. My guess is that one means city mode and the other is highway mode? But which is which? Also, are these things effective any more? It's cool to have, but I don't want to depend on it if it's not that dependable against the current radars out there. Appreciate any comments.

THe amber is the city mode and the green is the highway mode. While in the city mode The radar still goes off when i drive by automatic doors like in a grocery store. The radar saved my butt a few times. It is a good radar, but not as good as the Valentine or anything like that. I've had it for a year now and still havent figured out the different tones. Hope this will help some.

Huh?
We have built-in factory radar detectors in our cars?
I know I have some radar detecting device under my rear bumper, but I thought it was aftermarket unit installed by the previous owner...
How do I turn on the radar detector, if there is one?

Okay, so much for the effectiveness of my K40 radar detector. Just got clocked doing 84 in a 65 last week and got a nice present from the cop. My detector didn't make a single beep. Maybe it's time to contact K40 for an upgrade.

Correct me if I am wrong, Isn't being "clocked" when a officer is following you for a certin amount of time and watching is speed. So, he is not using radar / Lazer, he is just following you and watching his speed for something like 5 seconds to be able to catch your speed.

If I am correct here, I don't care of you had a radar detector that costs more than a brand new LS430, it would not do you any good in this case...

Please someone correct me if I an wrong here...

Man, if this was the case then I definitely got robbed. I was driving between another car and a semi and I was the one that got stopped. I know the other two vehicles were going at least the same speed as I was. I would've gone to court, but it was 3 hours away so I didn't feel like driving that far to appear.
