I just purchased a SC. I'm waiting for a owner's manual to come in and service repair CD off EBAY.
(Bought it from a new CPA graduate who was quite a novice around cars, especially this one - lol).

It looks like a OEM Radar system controller in the center console. Turn it one way and a green light glows on the dash, the other way and an amber light glows. The top of the controller is a dial.

Can someone explain how this works? Does it beep/flash when entering a radar zone? Thanks.

Congrats on your new SC!

There is no OEM Radar system in any Lexus. However, many Lexus dealers have an arrangement to install K40 Radar detectors in the service areas at dealerships and often original owners get them put in when the car is new. The original owner of my GS did.

You should see two red indicators - one lights up when radar is in front, the other when radar is behind. When the system is on it will chirp as well - I think you can mute that and control the volume.

I found four K-40 dealer's and will telephone for an appointment to show them the car.

When I turn on the controller, the red/amber lights up. The left and right red lights both blink in a sequence then go off...I can hear a faint beeping sound. Downloaded the owner's sheet's from K-40. Very helprful. Thanks, again.
