Default Heat problem after double din install....

Hey there,

I recently replaced my sat nav with a double din unit.
Now I don't know this has contributed to my problemail or not, but over winter I have noticed that the temperature on the passengers side is colder in general than the drivers side.
It feels that at all temps the passenger side is always a few degrees colder.
When both at lowest, it is definitely colder & when both are at maximum, passenger side is not cold, but cool compared to drivers side.
I have read the sticky about replacing servo's, but just checking first that someone hasnt exprienced this & it isn't related to changing out the sat nav to double din.

Thanks in advance, oh & I'm from the UK, but I don't think that would make any difference.
It hasn't on any other of the fix it's I've used on here.

Hello mate, I'm currently changing my nav system over to double din but I can't see how you'd manage to affect the heating, unless the climate module you have is faulty maybe?

I'm also in the UK (cambs).

Dumb question, but the passenger side is set to the same temp as the driver side, correct?

It's a servo issue, probably coincidence

Hi mate, yea I sorta thought that but just wanted to check if there was a simple reset of the module before I stripped out the dash to fix the servo's.

First thought that came to mind! TBH, shouldn't matter anyways though. Even though temperature on both sides can be different, once it goes into the cabin it averages.

Yea, but if you are on dual or normal mode the temp should be the same each side I would have thought.

Are the servos known to go bad? I've been on the forum a while but only ever looked into the issues that went bad on my car, etc, wind noise, ball joints, actuators, etc.

I thought that.
I'll just have to replace both heat servo's at that rate then.
Cheers.

I'm not sure if they necessarily go bad. I just know there is a sticky on the diy page on how to change them.
I think people experience more problems with their cars in the states because they do a lot more miles than us in the UK generally, although that's not always the case.

When is the last time you've had your ac serviced? When I was working for Toyota, alot of their dual climate systems would have this problem if the system was low on overall charge. Otherwise, it could be a servo issue.

Funny, I took the servo out on Saturday there n it seems to be working fine & I was wondering if the fact I need a new air con condenser & recharge had anything to do with the problem.
You have just answered that, thank you.
