I thought I would share a few pics

There are covers that go overtop of the amps and amp/sub areas, so when you open the trunk you dont see any of the equipment. I might change them to plexiglass, but I will have to put some kind of fan system in the amp racks, the covers I have now are vented. I will probably also try to find some material that matches the factory carpet a little closer, or perhaps do the entire trunk in black leather.

Thanks, Im pleased with the way it came out, but like I said, I might make some suttle changes with the material if I can find a better match. Its really not that drastic in person, but its one of those things that I will do next time I get some free time and $$. It sounds great, insanely loud and crystal clear.
Very clean. Did you take out the factory sub? As far as the material, it looks pretty good. If it were me I would use vinyl over leather, it is a lot easier to stretch and work with, not to mention a sh*tload cheaper. Remember that you can always use dye to get a closer match. Have you checked out www.selectproducts.com ? They have fans, covering materials, actuators etc.
The color is pretty damn close to the carpet on the bottom of the trunk, but its a little lighter than the molded carpet that goes over the wheel well humps, etc.. If I do opt to change to another material other than carpet, it would be vinyl, not leather. I used vinyl on my old car, and it looked just as good as leather and it wears alot better than leather. The only reason I didnt do it like that to begin with was it wouldnt blend with the trunk area, I was trying to keep it as factory looking as possible. To make it look right in vonyl I would have to change the entore trunk liner with the vinyl.
As far as the two humps go, Im assuming your talking about the darker gray humps that curve up on either side of the section that has the amp and sub. If so, those are the wheel well humps, part of the factory trunk area that the box was built around. It has no function as far as the system goes, doesnt hold anything in place.
By the way, yes the factory sub came out. We used that as sort of a port into the cabin of the car. It siounds great!!

I dont have any pics of the install itslef, but I will be able to take some for you in a couple of weeks. Im having problems with my EDFC at the moment, and I will probably have to take out the box and all of the side panels to access the rear shock towers. When I do I will take some pics and e mail them to you.
Yeah, I wanted to maintain a somewhat stock appearance with all of the covers on the amps and sub. I wanted to hide the **** from my wife.

You definitely are not the only one that does that!! My problem is, I have been doing this stuff for so long to so many cars, my wife knows too much about cars now. So half the time I make up prices she knows im not being straight up about it.
Nice pics.
Aren't your amps getting real HOT though? Looks aside for a minute, with the carpeted trim around the amps, it looks like you've prevented normal convection cooling from being very effective (hot air rises, and it seems it has no where to go, and/or there's no air path directly across the amp heat sinks. The JLs are not what I call cool running amps, especially the class-ab 300/2 or 300/4. (My 300/4 gets pretty toasty when I'm cranking it for a while, even with a fan blowing directly across its heat sink.) The 500/1 is not too bad cause it's class-d. Are your amps getting hot, even without the covers that you're planning on adding?
You may want to consider a cover system that has ducting/baffling built in to draw air directly across all of the heat sinks. ???

The JL amps do seem to run a little on the hot side, but I havent had any overheating issues as of yet. I do have covers for them now, they just arent on in the pics. The covers are made from grill cloth over top of speaker grill material, it protects them, but also keeps them well ventilated. Also, the way the amp racks are built, its pretty open opn the otherside of the carperted wood, so they are only covered for about 3/4 an inch or so. They do get hot though, I might try to run some fans to them down the road,
