This topic has been discussed many times here. I suggest you try out the search feature and you'll find a bunch of good info!
I'll take a crack at it for you, here are a few links (I searched for "valentine passport" as the Valentine One and the Passport 8500 are the two that are most preferred on CL from all the posts I've seen).
Link One
Link Two
Link Three
Link Four
Link Five
I prefer the V1 over any other I've tried.
Some hardwire / custom installs since that'll be your next step:
Link with hardwired V1. Mine is similar to this.
Link shows a custom V1 mirror install (expensive)

radartest.com has an axe to grind with Mike Valentine, so take their results with a grain of salt.
As others have said, get a V1. It is only available from their web site, so you won't find it any cheaper. Don't worry about it- just get it. You will be amazed at the detection range. This unit is incredible- it kept my Viper GTS legal for several years, and that was hard to do. ;-)
Read through their whole web site as there are lots of little tips & tidbits in how to install for maximum effect. Of course it won't provide much defense against instant-on, but that is where the traffic attorney comes into play.

Well, I'm convinced -- its Valentine One. But, they need to design a better looking box, that thing is flippin' ugly. I'd pay a little more for something more sleek.
Thanks for all the feedback!

V1 is the one to get.
As they say in the V1 ads, once you live with the arrows, you'll wonder how you ever lived without them. Real nice to know whether cop is ahead or behind, well worth the extra price. Works well. Don't worry to much how it looks, whether it works or not is way more important. The worst thing you can get is a detector that false alarms all the time, it's worse than not having one at all.

IF you're going to hardwire it in, you might want to think about the remote-mount type. Some people in the threads here have done some creative mounting of the device's separate sections.
