my speakers have a hissing and popping /ticking sound. could that be cause by a bad amp? I then added an amp for my rear speakers. I have a line driver also installed. should i by pass the amp?

Depending on your model Lexus, the volume controls may be controlled by the factory amplifier. I went to a lot of trouble to bypass my factory amp in my '06 IS350, only to find that it sounded much better but that I couldn't adjust the volume with the factory head unit anymore (with the amp bypassed). I ended putting it back the way it was, and later did a custom aftermarket HU install to ditch the factory HU and amp completely.

most people just swap headunits (its easier and winds up being cheaperand sounds better too) whats the reason for keeping the oem headunit.. as if u go after market u get a ton of upgrades?? dvd, bluetooth, andriod or iphone integration, nav sirius xm,sd,usb, pandora, iheart radio i could go on an on..

worst case if u must keep the stock unit.. just get the amp repaired it will cost roughly the same as any bypassing solution you'll come up with

i want to keep the head unit oem because I like the stock look better than aftermarket. Also it has all the a/c controls.

You know the AC controls are a separate piece from the stock HU unless you have a stock navigation unit. I would definitely swap the headunit out along with the speakers in the doors for much improved sound.
