Default dash piece

i need to make a fiberglass or abs piece for my gs400, and dont' send me to autotoys.com, they didnt' send what i ordered, can i make a fiberglass one and sand fiberglass, never worked with fiberglass and can i match up the paint close, any help would be nice thanks again

are you trying to get a single din or double din for the head unit / radio????

If so try the electronics section.

And make sure to do a search.

There have been a lot of folks w/ custom radio faces w/ pics.

Your best bet would be to use a piece of ABS plastic. You could also try plexiglass, but I dont know what it would look like painted. Fiberglass is not easy to work with, I suggest you buy a little kit from Home Depot and try it out before you start on your dash. Matching the color/texture is the hard part imo. Your local auto paint place will have a lot of vinyl type repair kits that might help you match your interior. If you do use fiberglass/plexiglass/ABS you might want to look into something called SEM texture spray which will give the smoother pieces some texture as if it were plastic. Since its a spray, you can kind of control the texture...

Fiberglass is pretty simple to work with...the sanding thats involved in the final touches is a really labor intensive though. Also, it takes a bit of practice to get the mixture correct.

I'd do as stated, and try a piece of plexi or ABS and see what you can do with that first.
