Because I didn't know this forum existed.....
I have an '06 IS350 and I started fishing around in the IS forum for anyone with knowledge of a kit to put an aftermarket HU in my car. I have been doing car audio for years and was not at all pleased with the sound of the IS's stereo (non-ML). I have built very clean systems as well as run huge 3000w woofers for SPL competitions. I am a member of numerous car audio forums and did some asking there too. After trying OE integration with Hi-Lo converters and a couple of different processors, I decided that I would have to figure out how to get a good clean HU in the car. My current setup is as follows:
HU is a Kenwood KDC-X794
Front and rear doors are Hertz HSK-165 two way component speakers
Factory sub removed for pass through effect
Sub is a Memphis C315D2 (wired at 1ohm)
Sub amp is a Memphis MC1.500
4ch amp is a Memphis MC4.50
Two runs of Memphis 4 gauge to the trunk
6ch Memphis interconnects
Box is 3.5cf tuned to 32hz
Here is a link to my original thread (do not click this unless you have some time to spare):

Now, to save the trouble of going through that thread, unless you just need info, here are a few pics of the install!
Junkyard stereo and display I bought, so I wouldn't be cutting on mine....
Molded piece for the single DIN test fit with the display portion....
Primed and ready for paint...
Ready to go in!
Uggh......
In, and working!
MC1.500
MC4.50
Trunk (just built that box last weekend and haven't carpeted it yet, btw...)

They get pretty loud, but still have a reasonable amount of SQ. I have run PRs, M3s, C3 (current), and Mojos. They can really take a beating.I've used Kicker amps but never their subs. I'm really happy with the C3, but want to upgrade both of my amps sometime soon. Also of note, gotta get some black screws for the amps, Lol. Couldn't find any in the garage when I went to mount the amps and was totally ready to be done with it at that point. Thanks for the compliments bro!

I did. I took the lower portion (cd changer) from the junkyard unit and then gutted it. I trimmed the back out with a Dremel, then marked and cut the single DIN opening in the front of it. I used epoxy to secure a bezel for a Mitsubishi (the curve was consistent with the curve of the Lexus unit), and then used bondo glass to secure it. After that, it was all filler, sanding and priming. I was a lot of work but worth it. Fabricating the lower portion took me about a month, working on it in the evenings. Figuring it out as you go is never easy.
