well, ive been looking and ive become lazy lol. can i update my navigation disk? i read somewhere a while ago that 2000's cant but i dont see why not? i dont know,if anyone can help me with that simple question,ide greatly appreciate it. OH,and how far into the updates can i update the navi,if i can...thanks!

Current updates are available only for 2001-up DVD based systems and 2007-up hard drive based systems.

 

For my 2001 GS 300 that came with Nav, I went and bought a generation 4 computer from a newer lexus and swapped my old computer in trunk. Then I got the 2010 disk and all is updated and works fine.

 

the last update for your first genration hardrive unit is 2004. thAT IS THE LAST YEAR THE size of the data will fit. they went back to hardrive in all 2010 lexus models but they are much larger and hold all the 11.1 map. the empty drive slot in your 98 to 2000 could hold a flash drive card and11.1 map date could be availabl that way. i bought a flash drive years ago that worked in that slot but i lost interest when the dvd drives took over the market. so i never tried to load the data map newer than 2004 onto a flash drive. i am sure some one savy on this could get an 11.1 map loaded on a flash drive for you. now that lexius is back to hard drives there can be no making copies of there maps. the dealer can only update them now. but yours cant even be updated to 2004 at the dealer. it has to be done at denso if they even still do it.
