Default Need help deciding what subs to get

I'm planning to put in some new subs in my is300 and can't decide what to get.
I have these in mind: 2 12"JLw3 or 2 12"JLw6 or a 2 Kickers.

I have a 1000 watt MB Quart amp. Still deciding if I need another one as well.

Any suggestions?

Why not some of the lesser known brands? Fi Car Audio, Sundown Audio, Sound Solutions Audio, PSI, TC Sounds, Dayton Audio, Digital Designs, DC Sound Labs, Mach 5 Audio, Obsidian Audio, Skar Audio, AE Speakers, etc.

There's nothing wrong with JL except you can get better performance for less money from a lot of the companies I listed. Kicker is still living on their old reputation. I hope the addition of their new acoustic engineer will help them out.

Do you have a box picked out yet or are you building it based on the sub you get? How much space are you willing to sacrifice?

I rock JL. I currently have a 12W7, but had a 12W6 prior. If you're a bass head, then the 2 W6's.

I'm not a JL fan boy, I really dislike the high school must have mentality.

That said the w6 is a great sounding sub. With the R and D budget they have it's hard to put out a bad product.

The IDQ 12 v2 is in my short list of best subs I've ever heard.

My girlfriends SQ car has a pair of ARC 10's IB. (more or less a IDQ but bigger surround and more throw)

I run a Soundsplinter RLI 10 (TC sounds) @ the moment in my sq car. The TC sounds are on parts express.

Bottom line is if you get any good woofer the box and power applied is whats going to make or brake the setup.

You can't beat a TC-2+ based sub. I haven't had that particular model but I have used an Elementa Designs E10k.44 (the old flat cone series), SVS ISD (TC sold it as the DB500) and the Stryke Audio AV series.

Even the other TC Sounds drivers are great. I currently have the Soundsplinter RLp 12, TC-3000 15, 18's based on the TC-9 motor, a 12 based on the TC-9 motor and an 18 based on the 3HP motor used in the 3000. I had the SVS ultra which is the only underhung driver that Thilo designed. It started with the Audiomobile MASS. It's also available as the Crystal CMP sub.

Finally, I like building subs. I have parts to build four more 15's based on the 3HP neo motor, four LMS 12's based on the TC-9 motor and a 12 based on the TC2+ motor.
