Vlad is still waiting for the sample of the connectors from oversea and working with the plastic company so he can get more connectors and the boxes. I think we'll need to give a few weeks or so.
Thanks for all the compliments.
thanks vvt.

Vlad, if you need a tester for the Acura's...let me know

Can this setup be done with only the:

1. GEX-P7000TV
2. DVD Player
3. OEM Navigation

What I mean is......Do we need that little black box.
What does it do anyways?

Yes we do need this little black box because the Pioneer GEX is designed to work with Pioneer Monitor and Pioneer Nav+DVD. This unit will bypass all of those and save a lot of money and installation time. It's hard to bypass Lexus Nav ECU and make the GEX work as stand alone unit, so you can use any dvd player or PS2/X-Box. I'm working on put the rear monitor camera in the car by take the trunk lock cylinder out and put a small camera instead, but the cylinder hole is too deep and I can't get good picture out of it. I'll try difference camera next week.
Thanks Sick.
Here some picture, but with trunk opened and the camera on the bumper.

my uncle has the rear-view camera built into the trunk of his S-Class, and when he puts the gear in Reverse the monitors would automatically show the camera's view.

IMO it's really not a good mod. Other than seeing if there are any kids behind the car, it really doesn't work well. You can't tell how far you are from something, and the view is really narrow once you get close to any object.

I think it's much easier to just turn around and look while backing up

If the camera gives you a widescreen shot, then it would be good because you can really tell what is behind you.

Its good if your backing into the garage, if you need to get the license plate number of the car in back of you, lol...

now what would be sweet is after the camera and the dvd, if you could hook up some kind of recorder, and record the video from the camera while driving. Imagine being able to record every single race just by the touch of a button.

I just want to add:

You people do not want to hear this...

It is my opinion that the GEX 7000TV will be discontinued soon.

The new Pioneer products are COMPOSITE RCA now and there is a new tuner which replaces the 7000TV for the new models (6400, etc). I predict, for the next generation, the current models will be phased out and the GEX7000 dropped.

Just a guess, but you may want to pick up the GEX7000 now because of the RGB conversion built in. The RGB1 cable has already been dropped.

BTW: We are also in development of a RGB conversion kit.

We help developed the LEXUS protocal adapter to AFTERMARKET CHANGERS, the first and only on the market.

That is so ****ing sick. The fit of the camera is so perfect and the picture is sweet. Now if you could only put one in the front too!

Does this mean though that you can only open the trunk with the built in key fob or from underneath the steering wheel?

Anyhow, it looks really sweet. When I find someone who knows all this kind of stuff, Ill have it done. Till then, mahala.

Default RE: GEX P6400tv

The GEX-P6400TV doesn't support VGA outputs so it won't work on the Nav monitors.
