Automated windows UP???????
Hello, I am just getting ready to do an alarm in my '98 GS3, and I was wondering if any of you have done auto-up windows with your alarms?? I know you can just use the door lock wires on VW's(with a prolonged output) to do auto windows, and I am hoping that since our cars have key operated windows in both directions, I might be able to use the same trick!?
The only reason I ask is because my techsoft program is saying that the rear windows and sunroof auto-up/down operation is not suggested to do???

I believe that in the US, automated or remote-controlled closing of windows is not permitted. Not to say that it couldn't technically be done mind you.

I highly doubt that, I have been installing for 8 years now, done dozens of auto windows up jobs, never heard anything of the sort???
Not saying your wrong, but just haven't heard anything of the sort!

what type of alarm is it. If it is an DEI alram, just get the bypass unit for it. I am not sure how to do it technically, but I know that it can be done because I have it on my car.. My friend is a proffesional installer and did my alarm.. If you want me to ask him I can.. Let me knwo..

Oh I was pretty confident it could be done, by simply tagging the door lock wires, and giving them an extended pulse...I was just curious why DEI techsoft is saying that it was not recommended, thats all. When I get back in a couple weeks, I'm going to install a Viper 800 w/autostart and windows both directions (now).
I honestly can't recall where I saw this stated, but I do know that some non-US Lexus models will allow window-closing via the remote, but in US vehicles this option is disabled (at least that is the case with the LS430).
There has to be some reason for that, if not legal then maybe it's a marketing thing.
Anyone know of any vehicle sold in the US where this is a standard feature?
Come to think of it, this would be a good gimmick, trigger auto window-close from the windshield-mounted rain sensor....
