Default next step: 2gs arm rest sub port?

Just installed my 2 jl w6v2 12" with ported box with a jl 1000/1 amp. After fine tuning and adjustments, the bass knocks like a pair of big *******!

I sat in the back and noticed there was a major air flow that hit against behind the arm rest. Now, I am thinking of cutting that leather piece out and creating a hole through the arm rest.

As of now, the subs and port hole are facing the trunk lid...will I feel or hear any bass increase if I was to cut a hole where the arm rest is?

I already bought some dynamat and will be using that soon. Stock sub is not removed and I was looking into removing that first but I'd hate to see a hole on my rear deck lol

believe me - get a roller and dynamat the ish outta your whole trunk. Remove stock sub and you'll be amazed at the difference.stock sub removal walkthrough

Dont forget to put a layer of dynamat on the top deck something like this since you gonna have it apart anyway.

Happy wrenching!

yeah Sakataj thats the pics i was looking for...i'm collecting a bunch of threads so hopefully it'll become a sticky in the audio for 2nd gen GS.

Mark, pm Vlad. Me and him did a 'fatmat' deadening and if id use that instead of almost 80sq/ft of dynamat xtreme. Gotta admit that dynamat is doing its job but my trunk lid is very unstable in open position.

Dynamat xtreme is pretty good, i got zero rattles, no smells/odors(unlike some ppl reported) but its on the heavy side and a bit expensive. In a few weeks i'll try to deaden my friends CC with 2nd skin 'damplifier'.

to OP - once you remove the stock sub you wont see the hole unless you remove the grill also...

your right it is a tad heavy but thats ok.

OP there are a few members who cut theres out and have front firing woofers but to me it looks awful.

thanks guys for the advice. So I would get more bass from removing the stock sub over cutting a hole through the arm rest?

ive removed the stock sub along time ago and it makes a little bit of a difference but i think if the piece where the armrest was cut out it would be better.im just too scared of doing it myself yet.my friends car has it stock with the center piece behind the arm rest is removal and when he does take it out its like nite and day.so much more bass
