Default Probably getting Kicker comp for my GS. Questions?

I was just wondering if i should get a box or should i just put it where the stock sub location is at and is there any sound difference between the two locations.

I would recommend putting the sub in a box rather than in the factory location. The stock sub is what is called a free air subwoofer and unfortunately most aftermarket subs aren't designed to be run in that sort of setup. You will get better sound quality and volume out of that Kicker Comp if you put it in a box. Also it may be a good idea to remove the stock sub and just leave the opening to act as a pass through for the Kicker in the trunk.

The stock amp puts out roughly 50 Watts RMS. It's probably best to go find an amp that matches the rated power handling of the sub. Also make sure to match the impedance of the sub to amp you choose. The stock amp is perfectly matched for the stock sub and that's about it.

Well, I haven't really seen a tutorial on this but it's pretty straight forward. First you'll need some place to get audio signal for the new sub amp, the outputs of the stock amp should work fine for this. Next, you will need what is called a line out converter to step down the amplified signal from the outputs of the stock amp and provide rca outputs to go to the amp. Some amps have a feature called speaker level inputs in which case you don't need a line out converter. For power you will want to grab an amp power kit and run power straight from the battery to the amp. Finally, you will need a switched 12 volt source to tell the new sub amp when to turn on, you may be able to find this at the stock amp.

If you don't feel comfortable doing the installation, have it professionally done. It can save you from many headaches to have someone that knows what their doing install it.
