engin_ear,

I listened to both an older LS and the new LS...

The ML just doesn't have the "fullness" and "richness" compared to the Nak. The Nak may have lower grade speakers or components than the ML, but to me, overall, the Nak sounds better. I compared them listening to classical music....

The old LS has a dedicated amp for the sub, and another amp for the rest of the speakers.

That will make a big difference. That explains it.

I see... I see... that's why I was confused why I prefered the Nak better, when ML is supposed to be superior to the Nak...

cheers,

Exclamation ML or Nak ?

Naks are definatley nicer car audio systems--the ML's are not optimal for cars and are on the low side of high end audio...(relatively speaking) However, both systems will suck unless you upgrade your sub--run do not walk!

Srlexus,

Where would you place Nak on the scale? You mentioned ML is the "low side" of high end. What would be your choice of no holds barred high end?

Default Wanted SC400 Nakamichi Speakers and Amplifier

Hello everyone,

Please notify me if someone has Stock Nakamichi Speakers and amp sitting around after an upgrade or what ever. I recently bought a Lexus Nakamichi head unit and plug it in my SC300 with no problems. The harnesses adapted perfectly. Speakers don't seem to be able to handle the power so I prefer the factory Nakamichi speakers. I need the Nakamichi factory amp also. Does anyone know by any chance the factory Nakamichi factory amp would adapt perfectly with the SC300 harness? Once again, I need, Nakamichi factory amp for SC400 only, 2 rear NAK speakers, 2 front NAK speakers, and 2 front NAK tweets. Please give me a reasonable price on it otherwise, I might as well go for aftermarket ones. And please, don't sell me any blown speakers. Let me know. I live in San Francisco, California and zip code 94116.

Default How about some advice?

I recently bought a GS430 and was very disappointed with the "premium" Pioneer system. IMO it is comparable to ordinary stock audio in most luxury cars. Not even as good as the Delco-Bose in GM cars (I have two). I also decided that I would like to have the Lexus navigation too, so I sold the GS, and am looking for another one. After reading the posts in this thread, I am wondering.... can I buy a GS430 with navigation but no ML and retrofit a high quality sound system, and how expensive? Would this involve a complete replacement, or only amps and speakers? I am good at mechanics, but a dufus at electronics, so I would have to get it done by a local shop, which by the way is quality and reliable (I have had two systems from them (Kenwood and Alpine) plus an added CD changer. Always good results. I have already talked to them about adding a good subwoofer and sub amp to the premium unit, estimated $400-$500. Advice would really be appreciated as it would add to my purchase options. Thanks for comments.
