Default iPod Integration on the HS250h

I know this is probably a pointless post, but thought I'd give it a whirl.

I am very interested in the HS250h and generally like the car with one major exception -- the implementation of the iPod controls (which I am assuming are identical to those on the 2010 Prius (other than the mouse-pointer) which I have had the opportunity to play with.

It is a really primitive interface - especially for what is otherwise a very electronically advanced car. It is nearly unusable for a couple of reasons:

- The amount of time it takes to scroll through songs/artists/playlists is unbelievably time-consuming. I have 800 artists, and I think it would take 10 minutes to get to the bottom of my artist list.

- While you're scrolling through songs/artists/playlists, the audio system interrupts your currently playing song and starts playing whatever you're currently scrolling through -- even though you haven't made a selection yet.

I can't believe Lexus has fallen so far behind the Germans (and Infiniti) in this regard.

Just curious if there is any remote possibility that Lexus will correct this with a future firmeware upgrade. Obviously, nobody probably knows, but thought I'd see what sort of responses it generates.

I just purchased a 2010 IS 250. The iPod integration works the same way as on the HS but without the mouse. It is very difficult to use effectively. Just as you point out, scrolling through lists of artists or songs is time consuming and for some reason each time you scroll down the list, it highlights the top son or artist and automatically begins to play. I've searched the manuals to see if there was some sort of way to change this and haven't found anything. This part of the integration is very disappointing.

for what its worth, i obsessed about ipod integration for a long time, trying to figure out which is the best option (i have 09 I250). I concluded that the vaistech sl2i or sl2vi unit is by far the best option (or, the least worst). The option offered by lexus is pretty terrible in general IMO, it seems more of an afterthought than a well-engineered feature. One of the biggest features I was looking for was scrolling efficiency, and while the vaistech unit is not perfect, it is the best out there.

Global positioning system is an advanced and complicated technology provided in Lexus ES350. I shall try to explain in short, how to use it. Press the I agree button on the accident disclaimer screen. Press the Dest button on the edge of the color LCD touch-screen display. Press the address button on the LCD display. Press the correct number buttons for the house number. Press the ok button.
You can use VIAS ipod integration kit for mp3's.
